Description

This is a complete redo of M33 using my new ZWO AM5 mount and the ASI Air Plus.  I have deleted my previous image of M33 as it was very overprocessed and I just was not happy with the quality of the image.  PI continues to be a challenge in learning, but I think I'm slowly getting there.  For all practical purposes, this was essentially a first light image for the AM-5.   Overall, a very easy mount to setup, polar align, and program an imaging run.  The autoguiding was also easy to set up and pretty much spot on considering my resolution was 1.8"/pixel.  I achieved anywhere from .3 to .8,  in both RA and DEC, depending on seeing conditions throughout the imaging run.  I was really getting fed up and frustrated with my larger mount and software, especially in the autoguiding arena.  It would take me sometimes up to 2 hours just to get the thing polar aligned and ready for imaging.  I had the AM5 and ASIAir+ up and running within 30 minutes.  Since I don't have a permanent observatory, the AM5 has made portable imaging fun again.

With that out of the way, in processing M33, I used for the first time, the GHS script in PI.  What a difference!  Even though it involves another learning curve, I found it very intuitive to use and also diverse in how it stretches the image.  I recommend anyone using GHS for the first time to watch the videos on YouTube and then go through the threads here on AstroBin.  I also plan on buying and downloading the BlurExterminator, StarExterminator and NoiseExterminator  scripts (processes) as they have gotten great reviews, too.

Thanks in advance for stopping by and as always, any comments, constructive criticism, or sharing of knowledge is always welcome.

Clear Skies, and Happy Holidays!!
